How To Get Into Project Rockstar 09 – Director’s Cut

In the summer of 2008 Mr.M took six young men and turned their lives upside down as they took part in the seduction community’s biggest event since the release of ‘that book’ about ‘that guy’ with the black nails and fuzzy hat… 8 weeks of intensive, no-holds barred training in all aspects of social seduction from the best trainers and coaches in the world. The highest level of pick-up training, magnetic sexuality and high fashion, elite social skills, fitness and business…their world was rebuilt from the ground up.

It was the chance of a lifetime.

And it’s happening again: www.projectrockstarblog.com

It’s official, Project Rockstar 2009 is here!

I was one of the original six Rockstars from that first summer. I have the inside-track on all that went on: the stories, the struggles, the victories…the steamy handjob in the photobooth from a beautiful Jordanian socialite (yes, that was me and yes, she still calls).

Since the programme I’ve travelled the world with Mr.M teaching all that we learned and have had the wildest adventures! You can read about all of this on www.adventuresofkeychain.com.

Now it’s your chance to get involved and apply for Rockstar 09.

So You Wanna Be a Rockstar?

Hundreds of guys applied the first time. Our successful applications had to stand out amidst stacks and stacks of eager emails…and then face the rigours of the interview panel, a room full of elite guys probing your every word and expression. It was gruelling.

But this Rockstar is even bigger than the first – we’re talking applications in the thousands.

It’s extremely difficult to convey your personality amidst the slew of other cool and passionate guys competing for places. How can you convey your quality and character in that initial submission?

This article is your insider’s view on what it takes to get to the interview stage. You’ll find my top tips, advice and thoughts on how to submit a top rate application that give you the best chance of making the final 20 interviewees.

First, let’s state the obvious: the internet is full of great information on successful submissions: from spelling and grammar to page layout. Use these public resources. Control that which is controllable.

That being said, I’m going to take assume these basics and focus instead on the extra 10% that will help your application stand above the rest.

The Basics

First of all you must read www.projectrockstarblog.com carefully. Make sure you fully understand the requirements and structure of the programme. Are you able to commit eight weeks to this? Your identity will be publicised internationally, your every struggle and triumph followed by countless readers around the world. Are you willing to embrace this aspect with enthusiasm and courage? To you have the creativity to financially resource your time in London?

If you’re reading this the chances are that, like me in 2008, you’re screaming ‘yes!’.

So let’s get started.

Brevity

It is with words as with sunbeams. The more they are condensed, the deeper they burn.
- Robert Southey

Brevity is good. Mr.M states a preference of 1000 words or less.

It’s tempting to tell your life story, writing pages of passionate prose in an attempt to communicate your eligibility for interview. This is a big mistake. Mr.M and his team will be reading a ton of submissions and the last thing you want to do is send a novel of biblical proportions. The gold of your personality will get lost in the mud of your padding.

If you want to stand out, cut away excess narrative and make your points concisely. As far as possible, you want every sentence to be worth reading for its content. This makes the reader’s job easier and dramatically improves the impact of your application.

Be Honest

Don’t try to be something you’re not. Speaking with honesty and boldness will communicate your personality much more powerfully. If, by some chance, you do manage to get to the interview stage under false pretences, suffice to say you’ll be found out very quickly.

You don’t need to be a superstar or a pick-up god to stand a chance here. You do need the personality and character of a man who can achieve greatness if given an opportunity like Rockstar. Regardless, you are who you are – be as honest as you can and you’ll stand out.

Be Smart

Put yourself in the shoes of the selectors. You’re about to invest eight weeks into six guys to transform their social destinies. Ask yourself: who would I invest this colossal time and effort into?

Being normal and hard working is not enough, there will be too many guys taking that angle. To make it into the top 20 interview stage you’ll need to show more than that.

Talk about your dreams, ambitions and goals. Give them an idea of the kind of man you want to become and how Project Rockstar ties into that vision. Everybody says ‘I’m willing to sell my sister and give everything up for this’ in their application. Very few explain why. Without the ‘why’ you come across as a beggar – with the ‘why’ you come across as very, very smart and a go-getter.

So you want to make the big sacrifice to join Rockstar. Bravo! I did it and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Definitely express your hunger for a place but don’t forget to tell them why you want it! Willingness is not enough, talk about your reasons.

The Normal Thing

Don’t get too hung up on overtly saying ‘I am normal’. For some reason, a lot of guys do this. It’s a common mistake and fills valuable page-space that you should be using to talk about your exceptional qualities. Just like a good dhv story should imply attractive character traits rather than overtly state them, you should let the tone and content of your writing imply your normality.

Don’t worry, this point will not get lost. A lot of very weird applications come in that are clearly not ‘normal’ at all. You don’t need to stress your normality to avoid falling into the ‘weird’ category.

Mr.M has specifically told me that he is not looking for normal people. He wants people with passion. To quote him, ‘Show how you have worked towards your passion and are really hitting your stripes in that area.’

Special Sauce

Rockstar is ultimately far more about elite lifestyle than pickup. You’ll learn pickup to a very high level, but in a way that’s the easiest part. We can teach (almost) anyone how to pickup to a very high level, but there are much fewer people we’d invest 8 weeks into.

The panel will be looking for people to welcome into their own circles. People with great personality, potential, independent value (so important: if you’ve got this, make sure you let the panel know) and interests wider than pickup.

Independent value is a concept from Mr.M and Braddock’s Social Circle Mastery Seminar. In this context, it is good enough to define it as ‘what else you bring to the table in your application’.

Say, for example, that you’re passionate, available and eager to learn…a good start for your Rockstar submission. But if you’re all of those things and you’re a fashion photographer who can provide access to high-end fashion events…even better. Or perhaps you’re a financially independent entrepreneur who has expertise in business and a network of international contacts? Now you’re bringing something to the table that the selectors will find valuable. People are attracted to value. If you show this sort of independent value in your application, you will be leagues ahead of the competition.

Three words of advice on projecting independent value. Make it relevant to the interests of your ‘target’ (you may have to do a little research to find out what these interests are). Don’t bullshit – you will be exposed at interview, the selectors constantly deal with extremely high value people and know how to spot a fake. Be brief – state your value proposition in fact-based language and move on.

Final Thoughts

If you chose to apply to Rockstar 2009, know that it’s going to be a tough process but the reward is so worth it. The odds may seem daunting but remember: 6 guys will be picked and you can be one of them.

Get your application together, make it as good as it possibly can be and then hit send. If you’ve got what it takes, Mr.M will spot you. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing you in London this September.

GO FOR IT!

  1. Are you accepting girls into the program? Lol, just kidding ;-)

“Everybody says ‘I’m willing to sell my sister and give everything up for this’ in their application. Very few explain why. Without the ‘why’ you come across as a beggar – with the ‘why’ you come across as very, very smart and a go-getter.”

This is super profound, Keychain. In non-violent communication, Marshall Rosenberg teaches us that people are much more likely to say yes to our requests if we articulate the basic human needs we have that are motivating our request (such as peace, adventure, meaning/purpose, play, desire to contribute, etc.).

This is in part because people enjoy contributing to each other’s well-being, and they can really FEEL how they are contributing if the other person has stated the needs that are being met.

If that resonates at all …

When are you coming back to San Francisco?

    xoxo,
    Erika
